Conference registration

Pick a conference, say how many places you want and name the people coming — one page per participant. The guide then asks the organiser’s own system how many places are left and compares it with what you asked for. Book two and you are registered; book five and the same registration offers the waiting list instead. Nothing in the guide knows how many places there are.
